I can see the potential value in writing about an ex, but I found it easier to just move on.

I totally understand that. Even if it’s hard to move on sometimes. Like with one of my ex-jobs I think it’s better for me that I signed a severance and can’t badmouth them instead of dwelling on it.

There’s benefits to both approaches!
